Class Election

We have been learning about elections and voting this week. We decided to take a class vote on whether we should have indoor or outdoor recess today. The voters casted their secret ballot and the votes were tallied and outdoor recess prevailed. Here are pictures of our voters in action.

Book Buddies!

Next week we are going to start Book Buddies! Every Friday we will be teaming up with Ms. Elles's 5th grade class and your child will have a 5th grade buddy. The students will get a chance to read to each other and Ms. Elles and I will plan activities for the buddies to do together. If possible, please have your child bring in their favorite book or a book they enjoy for Friday, July 31st. Friday will be our "getting to know" our book buddy day! There will also be a reminder about this in next week's homework.

July 22nd:         PTA Back to School Blast from 5:30pm-7:30pm.

August 13^{th :}    Open House from 6:30pm – 7:30pm (for Track 2).  Representatives from PTA, Transportation, Child Nutrition Services, the YMCA, Special Education, and Intervention will be present.

Pirates and outside dining for 23.

We are earning a reward every day as we count down to our last day of second grade together. Today we were rewarded with eating lunch outside. Some pirates decided to join us as well.

Upcoming Dates

We have a busy next few weeks ahead of us! Here are some important dates to keep track of:

May 16 (Saturday): We will have a half day and there will be no lunch or specials that day, but you can bring a snack.

May 19th-In case you have a Kindergartner: Orientation is May 19^th from 6-7:30PM in the multipurpose room.

May 27th-Our library books will be due today. Reading Case 21

May 28th-Math Case 21 

May 28th: Meet the Teacher for Track 1
May 29th-Field day from 9:30am-11:30am AND the Fancy Dance from 5pm-7pm

May 30th (Saturday):  We will be on a normal weekday schedule

Dress Up days:
Tuesday, May 26th: Pajama Day 
Wednesday, May 27th: 80's Day
Thursday, May 28th: Dress Like a Pirate
Friday, May 29th: Sports Day*  (to accommodate Track 1 Field Day: Sports T-shirt or jersey)

June 2nd-We will have our end-of-the-year party! Your child can come to school in their PJs. More information, including a sign-up sheet if you are interested in bringing a snack, to come. It will be at 2pm if would like to
