Our Soap Experiment

We had a great first day back! What better to get back into the swing of things than a science experiment? Today we put soap into the microwave and predicted what would happen. We assumed the solid soap would turn into a liquid, but the results were surprising...

We observed the soap before the experiment by passing it around.

We predicted what will happen to the soap when heated in the microwave.

We were ALL surprised the soap did not turn into a liquid! The soap stayed a solid, but the shape definitely changed. We learned that this happened because this soap had air in it and that helped it keep its state of matter of solid.

We loved touching the soap and everyone got to take some of it home--it can still be used as soap.

Fall Festival PTA Basket

Second Grades Track 2 (Ms. Strom) and Track 3 (Ms. Lawrence) are teaming up to create a Movie-Themed Teacher Basket for the PTA Fall Festival on October 16^th from 5pm-7pm! We are requesting your child to please bring in $2 to help create this basket by October 2^nd. The basket will be auctioned off and the money will be used to support grade-level funds. Thank you for your support!

Field Trips For This Year

We have our field trip dates!

February 2nd: Science is Fun @ 12:30-1:45pm

This will be an in-school field trip. Science is Fun is coming to our classroom and we will perform various sound experiments.

April 8th: Museum of Natural Sciences

The times are still being finalized, but I wanted to provide the date. I will provide much more information as we finalize everything.

Chaperones for the museum trip are strongly encouraged! Please remember, once you register to be a volunteer it takes 4 weeks before clearance.
