Important Dates

Make-Up Snow Days: Our make-up day will be this Saturday 1/30. We will start at normal time and dismiss at 12:45pm. Saturday, April 2nd will be our second make-up day. Please bring in a snack, as lunch and breakfast will not be served. I will bring in some goodies as well.


Science is Fun Field Trip: Our first field trip will be next Tuesday! This field trip is in school. Next week we are staring our science unit on sound and this field trip will be a great introduction! More information was sent in an email to you on Friday.

Math and Science Night: Next week (2/4) will be our Math and Science night from 5:30-6:30pm. Please come and learn how you can support your child at home in math and science.

Fancy Dance and Track-Out: 2/12 will be the Fancy Dance at 5:30-7:30pm! It will also be an early release day, our Valentine's Day celebration in school and our track out day!

Valentine's Day Exchange

On Friday, February 12th (which is also our track-out day) we will be having a Valentine's Day Exchange!  Please bring in an item that your child can use to hold all the goodies they receive (a shoebox, bag, etc.). You can also decorate your box/bag, if you would like.

If you are interested in bringing in Valentine's Day cards, candy, goodies, etc. as part of this exchange, please note:

-We have 16 children

-Please don’t personalize any of the items you bring in. For example: To Amy, from John. It’s easier for distribution if the items are not labeled with the individual names of each child.

-However, please feel free to write whom the items are from! For example: From John. J

Class Store

Our class store was open for business today! The items that were sold were amazing and the class did such a wonderful job making their crafts---they were priceless. :)

Poetry Unit

As poets, we are learning to write from the heart and to find items that inspire us. If your child could bring in a small item that means something to them, they can use that as inspiration to write a poem about next week. If they don't have something they wish to bring in, we have items in the classroom. However, if they are looking for a personal touch, this is an option.

Track Change Request

While I am far from ready to part with this class, it is time to start thinking about next year. Starting Monday (1/11), you will have the ability to provide input for your child’s 2016-2017 class placement and, if interested, request a track change. A link to the forms will be on the school website. If you need a paper copy, you may request one in the main office.
